What is WorldView Ministries? — Part 1

This is Part 1 in a series of 6 articles defining and explaining the heartbeat of WorldView Ministries. My burden is to clearly relate who we are, what our God-given vision is, and how we are taking the steps necessary to achieve our vision. This article will give a basic introduction.

Mission Scripture: Romans 15:20-21 Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man’s foundation: But as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and they that have not heard shall understand.

Mission Statement: WorldView Ministries is a Bible translating ministry committed both to the training and development of Bible translators and to the translation of the Scriptures into the heart language of unreached people groups.

  1. A Bible Translating Ministry

Many people assume that WorldView is a Bible printing ministry. The questions we often receive such as “where do you get your Bibles printed?” and “how many languages do you print Scriptures for?” prove that assumption. There are many good ministries that print and distribute Scriptures and Scripture portions all over the world, and we thank God for them. But WorldView is not one of them. Our primary goal is reaching language groups for whom no Scripture can be printed because the Scripture does not exist in their language. That is not to say we are never involved in printing and distribution projects, but it is not our primary objective.

The work of Bible translation requires the training of Bible translators and the development of translation teams. We are currently working on five translation projects, all at different stages of progress. More information about training programs and about each of our projects will be written in future blog posts.

Our focus is on the unreached peoples of the world. Most of these reside in the 10/40 Window, but our work is not limited to that part of the world. It reaches to those unreached language groups wherever they may live.

 A Local Church Ministry

We are based out of the local church where most of our WorldView staff are members. Faith Baptist Church in Avon, Indiana, is our home base and sending church. My pastor, Dr. Marc Monte, and the staff of the church give unreserved recommendation and full support to our work. You can learn more about Faith Baptist by visiting www.faithbaptistavon.com.

 A Biblical, Baptist Ministry

I have served in this work since 2006 and now serve as the Director of WorldView Ministries. I was a Baptist pastor for sixteen years prior to getting involved in Bible translation work. We hold to the distinctives of the Baptist faith, not because they are Baptist, but because we believe they are biblical. Our doctrinal statement can be found at www.worldviewonline.net under the tab “About.” While we maintain a clear position, we are more concerned with reaching the world abroad than arguing at home.
